FAQs

Can I visit you to see samples of your range?

Please check our delivery page for details of our outlets. Some outlets are manufacturing bases and do not have show rooms.

When will I receive my gate?

For standard stock items, from confirmation of order, allow 3 – 4 working days for UK mainland delivery. For made-to-order items allow 28 days.

When can I collect my gate?

If you have selected to collect the goods yourself from one of our outlets, on confirmation of your order we will also confirm where and when they will be ready to be picked up. Please allow 2 working days for standard stock. Made-to-order items will take longer.

I don’t want to paint my gate. Will it rust?

Dependant on the enviroment, its unlikely the body of the gate will rust; the hot dipped galvanised finish means it does not need painting to protect it from the weather.

Moving parts, fitting, fixtures, hinges and latches, should be kept lubricated, any area of excessive wear can also be treated with a zinc rich paint.

Decoration can also be carried out for aesthtic reasons following the correct procedure.

I want to paint my gate, what paint should I use and how should I prepare the surface?

If you would like to paint your gate yourself always use a good quality metal primer. This will provide a good base and key for the finish coats. A good quality exterior paint system can then be applied. For best results we recommend that you leave the gate to ‘weather’ for 6 months before painting.

How long does the powder coated finish last?

Extremely strong and durable, the powder coated finish offers many years of protection. Any subsequent chips or damaged areas can be touched up with external gloss paint. Colour match spray tins are available from us.

Are black and green the only powder coated colours you do?

Black (RAL 9005) and Green (RAL 6005) have proved the most popular colours. If you would like a powder coating contact us. It’s fair to say you can have just about any colour you like but it will attract a further cost and may take longer to deliver.

Can I use my existing gate posts?

Yes, of course. You can fix our gates within existing wood, brick or concrete posts utilizing the fittings supplied. If you need replacements we can supply galvanised steel posts too!

I want my gate to open outwards and be hinged on the opposite side to current one, is this possible?

Yes, you may hinge our gates as you wish. Please refer to the installation notes for your chosen item. But, please remember, all standard stock single gates are hinged on the right and open inwards.

What if I don’t like my gate when I receive it?

We're pretty confident you will be pleased with your Crossley Gates product but if you are not happy we offer a 10 day money back guarantee on our standard stock range. You would need to return the gate to one of our outlets within 10 days of purchase within its original packing including all fixtures and fittings for a full refund. Please check our terms and conditions.

Please be aware, if you have purchased items from our bespoke and/or made-to-order range there is no refund available as these will have been manufactured to your specific requirements.

I’ve designed my own gates, can you produce them for me in galvanised steel?

Yes. With many years experience in feature metal fabrication please contact us with your ideas or email us your sketch and we’ll take it from there.

What does the guarantee cover

Products supplied with a hot dipped galvanised finish, are covered by our 10 year guarantee. However we would expect the gates to remain *rust* free for many years after.

Some harsh or coastel enviroments can affect the duration, but the hot dipped process still offers great protection even in the tougher of locations.

Third party items where supplied, i.e locks, handles and fixings, these items are not covered by our guarantee and should be maintained as per manufactures recommendations.

All other moving parts require regular lubrication to ensure trouble free operation. These can be also re-treated with a zinc paint if in the event that the galvanised finish is compromised.

The guarantee applies to the body of the product and excludes any moving parts. In the unlikley event of any issue, it is the owners responsibilty to return to our works for an exchange, or refund at our discretion.

* Minor amount of surface contamination are excluded as these can be caused by air pollutants, acid rain and other chemicals.*
